The Kiwanis Club of Xenia, OH will host the Xenia Rail and Arts Fest 2012 on July 21. 2012. The Rail and Arts Fest will run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on East Main Street in Xenia from Detroit Street to Whiteman Street. Included in the activities of the day will be model train displays in store windows along East Main Street a miniature train for children to ride along with other railroad displays on Main Street. The Kiwanis wish to provide the community with a very low cost fun filled day for families and children of all ages. Vendors will include railroad memorabilia, art and crafts by area artisans, the Chew-Chew Station which will sell hot dogs for $1 along with water and soft drinks. There will also be a food court serving bar-b-que sandwiches, ribs etc. On the stage on the corner of Detroit and Main there will be Opening ceremonies at 10:00 AM with entertainment including dance groups, drum lines and local bands throughout the day. At 2:00 PM there will be a costume contest where children from infants up to eighth graders may dress up in railroad related costumes and awards will be given to the best costume in several different categories. The Railway club of the Greene County Historical Society will be displaying many of their own railroad exhibits. Included this year will be “Suitcase” displays, railroad displays in suitcases. The Friends of Xenia Station (FOXS) a local group dedicated to promoting the bike trail hub and activities at Xenia Station will have the Caboose and Center open during the course of the day. The Greene County Historical Society Headquarters on Church Street will be open with special emphasis that day on Xenia’s storied railroad history.
